Description and applications
It is a compact energy absorbing device designed for use with screw gate karabiners in fall protection setups. The unit is built to manage forces during a fall event by extending and dissipating energy. It is intended to be attached between the harness and the anchorage point via compatible connectors. The design focuses on reliable performance in controlled vertical access scenarios.
It protects against excessive deceleration forces that can cause injury during a fall arrest. By limiting the maximum force transmitted to the body to less than 6kN, it reduces the risk of internal trauma. The device activates after a small tear-out distance, beginning to absorb energy before peak loads develop. This helps keep the fall arrest within biomechanical safety thresholds.
It is used on vertical travelling ladder systems where workers climb or descend fixed ladders with a fall arrest system attached. It is suitable for situations where the potential free fall distance is limited to 500mm or less. For greater free fall risks, additional shock absorption must be used. The absorber is not intended for general purpose lanyard use outside its specified application.
- Designed for vertical ladder fall arrest systems
- Limits arrest force to under 6kN during deployment
- Activates after initial tear-out to absorb energy
- Requires compatible screw gate karabiners for connection
