Privacy policy
Effective date: 21 October 2026
This Privacy and Cookie Policy explains how Aydin Consulting Specialist Pty Ltd (ABN 21 638 963 112), trading as Star Safety Supplies ("we", "us", "our"), collects, uses, shares and protects personal information in connection with our website, our store, our phone and chat channels and our services (together, the "Services"). We handle personal information in line with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles.
This Policy works together with our Terms and Conditions. If there is any inconsistency, this Policy prevails for privacy matters and the Terms and Conditions prevail for commercial matters. Nothing in this Policy limits rights that cannot be excluded under Australian law.
1. At a glance
- We collect the information needed to sell and deliver products, answer enquiries, run our website securely and improve what we do.
- We share it only with service providers and partners that help us operate, such as payment, delivery, technology, analytics and advertising providers, and where the law requires.
- We do not sell your personal information.
- Marketing is sent only with your consent or where otherwise permitted, and you can unsubscribe at any time.
- You can ask to access or correct the information we hold about you. See sections 12 and 15.
2. When collection starts
Some technical information is collected when a page loads, for example IP address, device and browser details, essential session cookies, security checks and basic usage data. Other information is collected when you give it to us, for example when you create an account, place an order, request a quote, apply for a trade account, send a form, use our chat, subscribe to updates, phone us or visit our store. By using the Services you acknowledge this Policy. You can manage cookies at any time through your browser settings (see section 9).
3. What we collect
- Identity and contact details: name, company, role, email, phone, billing and delivery addresses.
- Business details: for trade enquiries and accounts, business name, ABN, industry, purchasing requirements and, where you apply for payment terms, the information needed to assess the application.
- Order information: products and services, quotes, purchase history, delivery and pickup details, returns and warranty records.
- Payment information: payment method, status and transaction references. Card details are handled by our payment service providers; we do not store full card numbers or security codes.
- Communications: emails, forms, chat conversations, phone enquiries and notes of our dealings with you.
- Files you send us: photos, documents, artwork or site details you provide for a quote, a custom order, a return or a support request.
- Service information: where you book a service such as training or testing and tagging, the details needed to deliver it, for example attendee names and site contacts.
- Website and device information: IP address, device and browser type, pages viewed, how you interact with pages (such as clicks, scrolling and mouse movement), referring page, approximate location and error logs.
- Cookies and identifiers: cookie and session identifiers and analytics or advertising identifiers (see section 9).
- Security camera footage: video recorded by security cameras at our store and warehouse, used to keep people, premises and stock safe and to investigate incidents. Footage is kept for a limited time and may be given to police or insurers if an incident occurs.
We collect what is reasonably necessary for the purposes below. We do not ask for sensitive information, and we ask that you do not include it, or payment card details, in forms, chat messages or uploaded files.
4. Where the information comes from
- Directly from you, online, by phone, by email, through our chat or in our store.
- Automatically through the website, using cookies and similar technologies.
- From your employer or colleague, where an order, account or booking is made on your behalf.
- From operational partners, such as payment providers (transaction status only), carriers and supply partners (delivery status).
- From marketing and referral sources and publicly available business information, where lawful.
If you give us someone else's details, for example a site contact for a delivery or an attendee for a course, you confirm that you are authorised to do so and that they are aware of this Policy.
5. Why we use your information
- To provide the Services: process orders and quotes, take payment, arrange delivery or pickup, and manage returns, warranties and bookings.
- Customer support and safety: respond to enquiries, provide product information and, where necessary, send product safety or recall notices.
- Accounts and communications: manage customer and trade accounts and send order updates, invoices and policy changes.
- Marketing: send product and catalogue updates where you have agreed to receive them, and show relevant advertising.
- Operations and protection: prevent fraud and misuse, keep our systems secure, troubleshoot, keep records, manage insurance and legal claims and comply with the law.
- Improvement and analytics: understand how the Services are used and improve our range, website, support and logistics. Where practical we use aggregated or de-identified information for this.
6. When we share information
We share personal information only as needed to operate the Services, with appropriate safeguards:
- payment service providers, for payment processing, fraud screening and refunds;
- carriers and logistics partners, to deliver your order;
- manufacturers and supply partners, where they dispatch goods to you or assist with a warranty claim;
- service delivery partners, where a service you book is delivered with or by a partner;
- technology service providers, such as website and e-commerce hosting, email and messaging, customer support and chat tools, document storage, security and analytics;
- advertising and marketing partners, within the settings we control and subject to your choices;
- professional advisers and insurers;
- for payment terms and trade accounts: trade referees and, with your consent, credit reporting bodies, to assess an application; and debt collection agencies and lawyers, to recover an overdue amount;
- related entities and any successor to our business, on terms consistent with this Policy; and
- regulators, courts or law enforcement where required or permitted by law.
We do not sell your personal information. Service providers that act for us may use it only to perform services for us and must protect it. Analytics and advertising providers that collect information directly through our website, using cookies and similar technologies, may also use it for their own purposes, such as improving their services and advertising, under their own privacy policies (see section 9).
7. Overseas handling
Some of our service providers store or process information outside Australia. Depending on the provider, this may include the United States, Canada, countries in Europe and countries in the Asia-Pacific region. We take reasonable steps, such as using reputable providers and contractual and technical safeguards, so that information handled overseas is protected in a manner consistent with this Policy.
8. Website chat and automated tools
- Our website chat is an automated assistant. The messages and files you send through it are processed by our technology service providers to produce replies, and are recorded so that our team can follow up, improve the service and keep the service secure.
- The assistant provides general information and passes requests to our team. It does not make decisions about refunds, returns, accounts or credit; those decisions are made by people.
- Order details are shown in the chat only after the order has been verified.
- We use security tools to tell genuine visitors from automated traffic.
- We do not make solely automated decisions that have a legal or similarly significant effect on you.
9. Cookies, analytics and advertising
We use cookies and similar technologies to operate the website, remember preferences, measure performance and support marketing.
- Essential: cart, checkout, sign-in, session and security functions.
- Functional: preferences, forms and chat.
- Analytics: usage measurement, error diagnostics and site improvement. Some analytics tools record how visitors interact with our pages, such as clicks, scrolling, mouse movement and pages visited, as session recordings and heatmaps. Anything you type into form fields and the website chat is masked and not recorded, and payment card details are never captured. The providers of these tools may also use this information for their own purposes, such as improving their services and advertising, under their own privacy policies.
- Advertising and tracking: measuring the performance of our advertising and showing relevant advertising on other websites and platforms.
Your choices. You can block or delete cookies in your browser. Essential cookies are needed for core functions and the website may not work correctly without them. You can limit interest-based advertising through your browser, your device settings and the settings of the platforms you use. Blocking analytics cookies, or using your browser's tracking protection or a content blocker, also stops analytics, session recordings and heatmaps. When you sign in or submit a form, activity on the same device may be linked to your customer record.
10. Marketing communications
We send marketing messages only where you have consented or where otherwise permitted by the Spam Act 2003 (Cth). Every marketing message includes a way to unsubscribe, and you can also opt out by contacting us. Order, delivery, account and safety messages are not marketing and will continue as needed to provide the Services.
11. How long we keep information, and security
- We keep personal information for as long as it is needed for the purposes in this Policy and to meet legal, tax, warranty and insurance record-keeping requirements. When it is no longer needed, we take reasonable steps to delete or de-identify it.
- We apply reasonable administrative, technical and physical safeguards, including access controls, encryption in transit and restricted access to records.
- No system is completely secure. Please do not send sensitive information or payment card details through email, forms or chat.
- If a data breach is likely to result in serious harm, we will assess it promptly and notify affected individuals and the regulator where required by law.
12. Access, correction and your choices
Subject to verification of your identity and to exceptions allowed by law, you can ask us to:
- give you access to the personal information we hold about you;
- correct information that is inaccurate, out of date or incomplete;
- stop sending you marketing; and
- delete information we no longer need. We may need to keep some records to meet legal, tax, warranty or insurance obligations.
We will respond within a reasonable time, usually within 30 days, and will explain our reasons if we cannot do what you ask. You may deal with us without identifying yourself for a general enquiry, but we cannot process an order, a return or an account request without the necessary details.
13. Children
The Services are intended for businesses and adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has given us personal information, please contact us and we will take reasonable steps to delete it.
14. Third-party sites and content
The website may link to external sites and may display specifications, documents or images supplied by manufacturers. We do not control third-party sites or their privacy practices. Please review their policies before giving them information.
