Description and applications
The guard is made from a strong, lightweight polycarbonate material that does not conduct electricity. It is designed to fit over the laces of existing safety footwear without requiring modifications. The device is built to work alongside steel toe caps, adding an extra layer of defence for the metatarsal bones. It can be moved between different pairs of shoes or boots and shared among users as needed.
Its primary function is to absorb and spread the force from heavy items that might drop onto the foot. This helps reduce the risk of injury to the delicate bones in the midfoot area. The guard has been tested to withstand impacts equivalent to 75 pounds, meeting recognised safety standards. It relies on the user’s existing footwear for support and positioning.
Commonly used in factories, building sites, mines and farms, it suits environments where overhead hazards are present. The guard stays in place using nylon webbing threaded through a plastic ladder lock, which can be tightened to match various shoe shapes. For footwear without laces, separate straps are available to attach the guard securely. It is straightforward to put on, take off and adjust during use.
