Description and applications
This lanyard is designed for use in environments where exposure to high heat and flying debris is common. It features a compact energy absorber built into the webbing to reduce fall arrest forces. The webbing is made entirely from Kevlar® fibre, which maintains integrity under extreme temperatures. Two scaffolding hooks are attached at each end for secure connection to anchor points. The design allows for length adjustment to suit different working positions. It is intended for personal fall protection in demanding industrial settings.
The primary function of this lanyard is to safeguard the user from injury during a fall while resisting damage from hot sparks and molten material. The Kevlar® webbing does not melt or degrade easily when exposed to brief contact with hot metal or slag. This makes it suitable for tasks such as welding, cutting and grinding where such hazards are present. Unlike standard polyester lanyards, it retains strength after exposure to high heat. The energy absorber activates during a fall to limit the force transmitted to the user’s body. Visual stitching indicators show if the absorber has been deployed after an incident.
It is commonly used by workers in construction, maintenance and manufacturing who operate near heat sources or molten material streams. Typical applications include steel fabrication, boiler work and shipbuilding where fall protection and heat resistance are both required. The lanyard connects to a harness via the scaff hooks and to a fixed anchor point such as a beam or lifeline. Adjustability ensures proper tension and minimises slack during movement. It is not intended for use in chemical exposure or electrical hazard zones unless specifically rated for those conditions. Regular inspection is required to check for heat damage, abrasion or deployment of the energy absorber.
