Description and applications
The valve is a spare part designed for use with emergency safety showers and eyewash stations. It automatically responds to water temperature changes without being affected by system pressure. When stored water in the shower exceeds safe levels, the valve opens to release hot water and allow cooler supply water to enter. This helps maintain a safer temperature range for user protection during emergency use.
It protects users from exposure to excessively hot water that can cause eye damage or increase chemical absorption through the skin. Prolonged contact with water above 38°C can worsen injury during chemical exposure incidents. The valve activates based solely on temperature, ensuring reliable operation regardless of flow or pressure fluctuations. This makes it suitable for environments where water may sit in pipes and heat up due to sun exposure.
It is intended for installation in outdoor safety shower systems where direct sunlight can raise stored water temperatures. The valve operates within a defined range: fully open at 40.6°C and fully closed at 35°C. Constructed entirely from stainless steel including body, fittings, spring and plug, it resists corrosion in harsh environments. It meets the requirements of AS4775 for emergency shower and eyewash equipment.
- Automatically vents hot water when temperature rises
- Operates based on temperature only, not pressure
- Stainless steel construction for durability
- Complies with AS4775 safety standards
