The Escape Descender 20M is a self-contained rescue system designed for use with elevated work platforms. It enables a worker to safely lower themselves to the ground in the event of an EWP malfunction or emergency situation. The device operates as a controlled descent mechanism, allowing either self-regulated lowering or ground-assisted retrieval. It is intended for immediate deployment when standard egress routes are unavailable or compromised. The system includes a 20-metre length of kernmantle rope rated for dynamic loads encountered during descent. A karabiner and hammerlock facilitate secure attachment to the user’s harness or anchor point. An integrated attachment eye and anchorage plate ensure reliable connection to structural or designated tie-off points. The entire kit is stored in a highly visible orange drop box for rapid identification and access in low-light or high-stress scenarios.
