Description and applications
This engineered fall arrest system attaches to a vertical rail and moves freely with the user during normal climbing motion. It locks instantly if a sudden downward force is detected, such as a slip or fall. The device is intended for use only at the top or bottom entry and exit points of the ladder system. It does not allow intermediate access along the rail.
The primary function of the VR650 is to arrest a fall before the user strikes a lower level or obstacle. It activates through an internal cam mechanism that grips the rail when acceleration exceeds a set threshold. This protects against serious injury or fatality from falls while working at height on permanent access ladders. The system is passive during normal use and requires no manual activation.
It is commonly installed on fixed ladders found on structures such as communication towers, water tanks, silos, and industrial buildings. Workers in maintenance, inspection, and installation roles use this equipment when ascending or descending these ladders. The device remains attached to the rail at all times during use, ensuring continuous protection. Proper training and inspection are required before each use to ensure reliability.
