Description and applications
Stratex Oil & Fuel Absorbent Marine Booms are built to soak up and hold back hydrocarbon liquids such as oil, fuel, solvents, petrol and diesel. Each unit features a tough mesh outer sleeve that resists snags and debris, an internal rope for extra strength when units are joined, and a core of premium meltblown polypropylene that does the absorbing. The design repels water so the boom stays afloat even when fully loaded with oil, making it reliable for extended use on the surface.
These booms handle a wide range of hydrocarbon spills, including leaks from generators, earthmoving gear operating near water, and discharges from boats, barges or dredges. Because they float while saturated, they remain effective in flowing or still conditions, capturing the contaminant before it spreads further downstream or across a larger area.
Deployment is straightforward thanks to simple clip locks that let multiple lengths connect into a longer barrier within minutes. Workers can position the linked line across a creek, around a vessel or along a shoreline to create a containment perimeter. The robust construction stands up to rough handling and debris, so the barrier holds together during emergency response and routine maintenance alike.
